Skyway Aviation Handling Company PLC (SAHCO) has made history by becoming the first ground handling company to win British Airways’ prestigious Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum awards in Nigeria. This remarkable achievement underscores SAHCO’s excellence in punctuality and safety performance at the Lagos station.

 The Platinum Award, recently conferred upon SAHCO, recognizes its outstanding performance in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific region. SAHCO secured this award after consistently winning the bronze, silver, and gold awards in each quarter of 2024. Notably, SAHCO remains the only ground handling company to have achieved these accolades since the inception of the British Airways flights to Nigeria.

Furthermore, lack of formal training amongst clearing agents and freight forwarders was highlighted about how this has promoted inadequate documentation, unethical practices and touting. It was emphasized that to promote efficiency in the cargo industry, there is need to ensure proper certifications are acquired by those who engage in the cargo industry to improve efficiency and industry reliability.

The Cargo Stakeholders’ Meeting also provided a unified platform to align objectives, promote sectoral reforms, and set a clear direction for the future of Nigeria’s cargo logistics industry.
